Why do Films deteriorate?
Why do Videos deteriorate?
Videos unfortunately deteriorate quicker than films, after an average of 5 years the original recording will loose some of it's quality due to unavoidable chemical changes. The bonding between the magnetic particles and the glue holding it to the plastic tape also breaks down which contributes to the gradual destruction of your precious memories. As this magnetic layer separates from the tape, it makes the heads dirty and the picture is generally seen as blurry or grainy.
